President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick has backed the Dream Team VI to win Gold in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
Nigeria U-23 side led by coach Samson Siasia and Captain John Mikel Obi face Germany in the semi-final on Wednesday, August 17 and Pinnick is backing the team to get all the way to the final and win Gold.
“As a Federation, we have always had confidence in Samson Siasia. We believed in him enough to appoint him to head the U23 crew and gave him all the support, including organizing several friendlies and invitational tournaments for the team over the past 18 months,” Pinnick said about Siasia.
The football chief further explained that the NFF have always trusted Siasia.
“When there was a sudden vacancy in the Super Eagles and we had two crucial matches at hand, we called on Samson Siasia,” he also said.
“Personally, and as NFF President, I have confidence that Siasia can take the team to the final match on Saturday.”
Pinnick on Tuesday, August 16 joined the team in Sao Paulo ahead of their game against Germany.
Dream Team VI beat Denmark 2-0 in the quarter-finals while Germany thrashed Portugal 4-0.
